After the 50 Best, the Fooding and the Gault&, it was the turn of La Liste to unveil its prize list this Monday, November 25. Created in 2015 at the instigation of the Quai d'Orsay to compete with the World's 50 Best, this ranking lists the 1000 best restaurants in the world using an algorithm. Gastronomic guides, press publications and even consumer opinions have been scrutinized to draw up this annual and global list, which is increasingly anticipated each year. For this 2025 vintage, there are two French addresses on the first step of the podium.

in the spotlight

Each restaurant being evaluated by a points system out of 100, this year, seven addresses rose to first place on the podium with a score of 99.5/100. As for French restaurants, we discover two establishments already widely praised by critics and international guides: Arnaud Donckele's La Vague d'or at Cheval Blanc Saint-Tropez, and Guy Savoy's eponymous restaurant in Paris, present at the top of the list for the 8th consecutive year. A double accolade for the 71-year-old chef, also crowned chef of the year by La Liste, almost two weeks after being elected to the Academy of Fine Arts. A triumph, less than a year after losing its third star in the Michelin Guide.

For his part, Arnaud Donckele achieved the feat of being present on the first two steps of the podium, his second address, Plénitude in Paris, taking second place with a score of 99/100 alongside L'Ambroisie by Bernard Pacaud in Paris, Alain Ducasse's Louis XV in Monaco or even Régis and Jacques Marcon in Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid.

Honorary Awards

In addition to the sacrosanct ranking, certain big names in French gastronomy have been awarded individual titles. Georges Blanc, an unrivaled figure in Vonnas gastronomy and descendant of a dynasty of Bressan cooks, was for example awarded an honorary prize celebrating “his career, the transmission and influence of his heritage”. As for the talents of the year, we also discover a female name, that of Colline Faulquier, chef of the Signature restaurant, located in and finalist of season 7 of Top Chef, in 2016.
