Celebrate Sainte-Cécile on November 30 in Bénac with a unique concert mixing classical, contemporary Music and rock tribute.
Under the baton of its leader Cédric Cieutat, the Harmony of the Dance Music Network of the Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Urban Community celebrates Sainte-Cécile, the patroness of musicians. In 2023-2024, this concert was focused on plucked strings and travel with the Ad Astra quintet and the harmony orchestra. Marie Burou was the guest artist with her mandolin, which we can find on her wonderful album “New Line” recorded last September.
“This year, we are inviting Happy Brass to open the curtain,” explains Cédric Cieutat, “a group made up of around fifteen musicians, most of whom come from the music schools of the Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées Urban Community. .” Under the direction of Lucie Guyton-Saggesi, this group highlights the practice of ensemble music through a multi-instrumental workforce, thus allowing cross-disciplinary work with saxophone, trumpet, trombone/euphonium, piano, guitar classes. bass and drums.
“Offering a dynamic and varied repertoire based around current music, Happy Brass will take you into a whirlwind of energy and enthusiasm with titles such as ‘Timber’, ‘Holiday’ by Green Day, ‘Danza Kuduro’, ‘Runaway’ and ‘Freed from Desire’.”
Then it’s time for the Harmony orchestra to discover the wonderful worlds of Thomas Doss and Eric Whitacre, before offering a taste of the project around the traditional music that he is preparing with the Guillaume Lopez quartet. The program will also include a nod to Claude Nougaro and, finally, a fraternal greeting to Frédéric Suzan, desk companion who left too early in this sad autumn of 2024.
The Harmonie orchestra will perform, in his memory, a very rock’n’roll arrangement of “Deep Purple Medley”, a piece that Frédéric was particularly fond of.
Saturday November 30, at 8:30 p.m., in Bénac. Free entry subject to availability.
