Sixteen years after making cinema history, “Slumdog Millionaire” is preparing to write a new chapter. The production company Bridge7 has confirmed the development of a sequel which will tell the continuation of the adventures of Jamal, the unforgettable hero of Danny Boyle’s film.
Released in 2008, “Slumdog Millionaire” told the moving story of Jamal, a young man from the slums of Mumbai, who reaches the final of the game show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.
According to the American media Deadline, this second part will explore “the next chapter of Jamal’s journey”. If the concept already intrigues fans, the mystery remains as to the return of Dev Patel and Freida Pinto, the main actors of the first opus.
Directed by Danny Boyle and enhanced by the music of AR Rahman, “Slumdog Millionaire” was a resounding success, winning eight Oscars, including those for best film and best direction. It also collected seven BAFTA Awards and four Golden Globes, becoming one of the most awarded films of its era.
