Workshops, fun activities… In Cherbourg, a new festival against discrimination

The House for All Léo-Lagrange launches a new festival in Cherbourg (Manche), which will take place from November 28 to 30, 2024on the theme of the fight against all forms of discrimination.

The #Parler festival will offer workshopsof the conferencesand fun activities pour encourage dialogue and reflection around the issues of our time.

For two years, with a group of young people, we have undertaken to create a box of six games around discrimination. It is now finished and we wanted to inaugurate it with a special event which took the form of a three-day festival.

This theme has been present at the Maison pour tous for many years, the fight against discrimination is a subject covered dailyit’s in the DNA of the popular education association.

The program

  • Thursday 28, at 8 p.m., at the Maison pour tous, show and conference by the DRAME agency This interactive show will address sexual health and emotional life. Sarah and Maxime, professionals from the DRAME agency (Device for research and analysis of diseases and epidemics) come to place the public in quarantine and check their knowledge on the subjects of HIV/AIDS/STI as well as the relationship to sexuality, pleasure and protection. This will involve deconstructing many prejudices. The play will be followed by an exchange with the actors and with Jessica Rousselet, family and marriage counselor, and Virginie Pasquier, midwife.

From 13 years old, free entry.

  • Friday 29 at the CGR Odéon cinema, from 8 p.m. Screening of the film by Niels Tavernier With all our strength. Like all adolescents, Julien dreams of adventure and thrills. But when you live in a wheelchair, these dreams are difficult to achieve. To achieve this, he challenges his father to participate with him in the Ironman triathlon in , one of the most difficult sporting events. The film will be followed by an exchange with Patricia Girre, disability holiday coordinator at PEP 50 and with the comedian Mak, the festival’s godmother. The room is accessible to PRMs and the film will be subtitled and audio description will be available. Current price at the cinema.
  • Saturday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at MPT.

– From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: time reserved for professionals to create links with partner associations, to test the educational tools offered in order to implement them with the public.

– From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.: come meet and play with local associations working against discrimination. You will discover games around Dys disorders, sign language, a Cimade goose game on the migration route, workshops to deconstruct prejudices. The godmother of the festival will be present to sign her book Me, the quota, itinerary of an employee with a disability. Yvan Postel, the illustrator of the six games, will also be present.

With this festival, we want everyone to realize that we all have a role to fight against discrimination. The objective is to talk about it in fun and varied ways, and to involve children and adults in this fight.

At the same time, participants will be able to discover four exhibitions on different themes such as handicap or the intra-family violence. A collection of sanitary protection and condoms will be organized on Saturday all day.
