Last of the series “Les Armes”: a disastrous end awaits a character

The last episode of the series Weaponspresented before the holiday break, ended abruptly for Warrant Officer Wesley Augustin on Monday evening.

The character played by Irdens Exantus was found lifeless by officer Louis-Philippe Savard (Vincent-Guillaume Otis), just after investigator Laroche (Mickaël Gouin) agreed to investigate the secret and warlike plans of the Colonel Craig (François Papineau).

Warrant Officer Augustin, whose circumstances of death remain unclear, had been on a tightrope since he began playing double agent and confided about White Stone and JTF 16 to Kim (Ève Landry) and Savard.

“He’s one of the richest characters I’ve had to defend so far. He is so complex, he went into so many areas and super intense situations,” underlined actor Irdens Exantus during an interview he gave to the QMI Agency.

“We gradually understand that he is not that bad, even if his actions are not always good or right. He’s a character who raised a lot of discussion, who did some weird things, but who still had a much more developed sense of morality than the other guys he worked with. I am thinking here of Craig, Dallaire and Caron,” he said, adding that he only learned of the death of his character a few days before the filming of the 12e episode.

The actor would obviously have loved to continue to deepen his character over time and the sentimental relationship he built with Kim, but recognizes that the noose tightened quite quickly around him.

“I saw how he was evolving and I remember that from episode 9 or 10, when my character understands that his brother has probably been killed and that he is being hunted down, I was really more and more more curious to see how he was going to get out of it,” he continued, adding that he understood that his character’s story ended this way.

He also discussed it at length with the author of the series, Pierre-Marc Drouin, upon receipt of the texts.

“I am so grateful to have been able to be part of this series and to have been able to respond to such fine actors, like Ève Landry, Vincent-Guillaume Otis, Frédéric Millaire Zouvi,” added the one we can see in the second season of sleepless night and who has been playing roles at an impressive pace since leaving the National Theater School of Canada, a little over three years ago.

Next winter, Irdens Exantus will be part of the cast of Télé-Québec’s new sketch series Kamizaze and will then be displayed on illico+ in The last of the monstersin spring.

Since last week, he can also be seen in the new Noovo web series, They are among usalongside Gildor Roy, Julianne Côté, Silvi Tourigny, Stéphane Crète, Karl Walcott and Catherine Proulx-Lemay.

Directed by Jean-Philippe Duval, the continuation of the series Weapons will be presented on TVA from January 6.

“I recognize myself in him”

Irdens Exantus is not the only one in his family to shine in the media space. His younger brother Stanley, who studies theater at Cégep Marie-Victorin, has been following in his footsteps for some time now and is notably part of the cast of the series Our home.

“I give him the line when he has auditions, coach him from time to time for roles. He’s a young man with a lot of instinct, but I try to let him build his own path in this profession,” he said of his brother with pride.

“To see the passion grow through his eyes is also a kind of mirror. I can see myself in him at his age, when I was 17-18. I try to guide him, but I also give him his freedom to find his own keys. It’s a profession where everyone has their own journey,” he continued.
