Louis Vuitton continues its cultural commitments with the Musée d’Orsay

After a first collaboration in 2022, the French house and the Parisian entity renewed their partnership in order to preserve the building and enrich the collections. Louis Vuitton will provide financial support to restore the institution.

In 2022, Louis Vuitton announced its merger with the Musée d’Orsay for a period of three years. While its financial support had enabled the cultural entity to acquire new works, the French house had organized some of its fashion shows within the majestic building in the 7th arrondissement of the capital.

And this collaboration seems to have been fruitful for both parties since they decided to renew their partnership for the period 2026-2030. The Musée d’Orsay will not be the only one to benefit from this link: the Musée de l’Orangerie-Valéry Giscard d’Estaing will also benefit from the contribution of Louis Vuitton.

According to the press, the brand under the aegis of LVMH, whose Fashion and Leather Goods segment experienced a slowdown in sales (-5%) in the third quarter of 2024, should invest 20 million euros in this project. This sum will be used in particular to redevelop, restore and modernize the reception of the Musée d’Orsay between 2025 and 2028, including the square, the marquise, the arrivals hall and the former hall of honor of the Hôtel d’Orsay. So much work in order to streamline traffic et to offer new services.

Louis Vuitton is also committed to supporting the establishment’s exhibitions, which received 3.9 million visitors in 2023, i.e. +18% compared to 2022 and +6% compared to 2019. The Musée de l’Orangerie recorded more than 1.2 million visitors, an increase of +22% compared to 2022 and +20% compared to 2019. historic attendance record for the two museums which should continue this year, driven by the celebration of 150 years of Impressionism in Paris and the significant tourist traffic linked to the 2024 Olympic Games.

Recently, the L’Oréal group also distinguished itself in the cultural landscape by co-signing an exhibition with the Louvre on the theme of beauty and its various perceptions.
