After the action carried out by Rural Coordination last week on the A9 motorway, it is the turn of the FDSEA and Young Farmers (JA) to take to the streets to express their demands. From 8 a.m. this Tuesday, gatherings are planned in Pollestres, Thuir, and at the Parc des Expositions in Perpignan, before the tractors head towards the city center, with “bins filled with plants”.
The convoy has planned a symbolic stop in front of the Chamber of Agriculture at 9 a.m., before heading to the city center, in front of the prefecture. The message is clear: “The burial of the agricultural world in the Pyrénées-Orientales”. Farmers are encouraged to dress in black.
The prefecture calls for travel to be postponed
The farmers did not vary in their demands. Measures to deal with droughtaid for farms in difficulty and unfair foreign competition remain major areas of concern. For months, these demands have been made during mobilizations without concrete responses following, deplore the unions. Despite several ministerial visits, farmers believe they have not been heard.
In a press release, the Pyrénées-Orientales prefecture announces that “traffic difficulties are to be expected in the Perpignan sector (city center and access to the city). Motorists are invited to limit/postpone their trips between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. »
