A castle that looks exactly like that of Balmoral, repeated explosions and so many evil clowns… The American version of The Traitors – which also exists in the United Kingdom – lacks neither resources nor ambition. And has just pulled off a nice coup by announcing, in an oh-so-mysterious trailer, the participation of Lord Ivar Mountbatten, a cousin of Charles III. The man may be far away in the order of succession to the throne – today he would occupy 465e place – he nonetheless remains a descendant of Queen Victoria and bears one of the most prestigious names in the kingdom. He was also a student at Gordonstoun School, the school loved by Prince Philip and hated by King Charles. He is also one of the godfathers of Lady Louise Windsor, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
But Lord Ivar Mountbatten, younger brother of the Marquess of Milford Haven, is best known for being the first member of the royal family – even remotely – to make his coming out. First married to Penelope Anne Vere Thompson, long called Lady Penny Mountbatten, the couple, who had three daughters, separated in 2010 and divorced amicably in 2011. In 2016, Ivar Mountbatten announced that he was in love with James Coyle, a former flight attendant. The two men married in 2018 with the blessing of Lady Penny and their three daughters.
A family story at odds with the concept of Traitors but which demonstrates the courage of the future candidate. His teammates and adversaries in the adventure, whether they are former Survivor or Bachelorother flagship reality TV shows, better watch out!
