Zayn Malik paid tribute to his former One Direction partner Liam Payne, who died on October 16, 2024.
“Love you bro.” It is with these three words that Zayn Malik launched his solo tour, Stairway To The Skywhose first concert took place on Saturday November 23 at the O2 Academy in Leeds, England. His first steps on stage since the death of his friend and former One Direction companion.
“Liam Payne. 1993-2024”, was written in the background, with a short message: “I love you my brother”.
The day after the death of Liam Payne, it was with the same sentence that he concluded a long message posted in tribute to his former One Direction companion. After the death of Liam Payne, he also postponed several concerts until January, notably in the United States and in Edinburgh, Scotland on November 20 and 21.
Liam Payne died on October 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from a third-floor balcony of his hotel. According to the autopsy, he died of “internal and external bleeding” due to his fall and was under the influence of drugs, alcohol and antidepressants.
Three people have been charged as part of the investigation into the artist’s death for supplying him with drugs.
Liam Payne’s funeral took place on November 20 at St. Mary’s Church in Amersham, west London. The four former members of One Direction, including Zayn Malik, made the trip.
