On November 23 and 24, the Bonsecours Market welcomes the 7^e Montreal Board Game Show. After a hiatus which lasted four years, this fun event will allow expert or aspiring players to discover new titles and participate in activities (including short role-playing games) offered at around sixty exhibition tables. A children’s area has also been added. Entrance fee.

The willing suspension of disbelief

The author and cultural presenter Émilie Perreault is back, this time on the stages of the Cinquième Salle, with her solo entitled The willing suspension of disbelief. This short, but oh so charming show addresses with humor and tenderness the question of the place that art occupies in our lives. This “professional spectator” revisits significant shows for the public in addition to returning to certain enriching artistic encounters… or less so. Candy!

The 72nd Santa Claus Parade

The holiday season is upon us. To soak up his magic, what could be better than attending the Santa Claus parade? Saturday, meet on René-Lévesque Boulevard. The procession of this 72^e edition will start at 11 a.m., at the corner of Bishop Street, and will continue its way to Saint-Urbain Street. As usual, the friendly character will be well surrounded: mascots, dancers, acrobats, singers will animate the various allegorical floats. The elves and Mother Christmas will, of course, be there. Without forgetting the Star Fairy who, this year, will be played by weightlifter and Olympic medalist Maude Charron. To add a touch of magic to the parade, organizers invite spectators to wear red. The event will be broadcast on TVA twice, on Sunday, November 24, at 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, December 14, at 12:30 p.m. Pascal Morissette and Julie Ringuette will be at the helm of this special show.

The new Kev Lambert read by Marie-Thérèse Fortin

Excerpts from Kev Lambert’s new novel, Snow trailswill be read by the actress Marie-Thérèse Fortin in a voice by Denis Marleau. The tour will stop in Quebec (November 22), Trois-Rivières (December 4), Jonquière (December 5) then Montreal (December 11, at Espace Go). Published in October by Héliotrope, this fourth novel by the author who won the Medici Prize last year for May our joy remaintells the story of a child’s first Christmas since his parents separated. An exchange with Kev Lambert and Marie-Thérèse Fortin will follow the readings. Tickets are on sale.

JaRon Marshall et son jazz R&B au Festival Marathon

The American JaRon Marshall, who works as a keyboardist in the psychedelic soul band Black Pumas, will be at the Casa del Popolo on Friday as part of the M pour Montréal Marathon Festival. For several years, the Louisianan now based in Texas has been offering superb pieces tinged with jazz, R&B and neo-soul. He draws inspiration from the greats, such as Robert Glasper, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Kamasi Washington. You can hear it on the album. earth soundspublished last year. The musician and producer recently released the song A Win Is A Win with the Frenchwoman Jadanaë, who does a lot of good for the heart and soul. The Quebec brother duo Hansom Ēli will precede JaRon Marshall on stage.

Émile Proulx-Cloutier at the Maison symphonique

Émile Proulx-Cloutier has accustomed us to intimate shows since the start of his career as a singer-songwriter. Here he is treating himself to the whole thing on Friday: the Maison symphonique in the company of the Agora Orchestra of conductor Nicolas Ellis, a choir and a brass ensemble. Taken from his most recent album, My hand in the firebut also from his entire repertoire, the poetic, lyrical or committed songs (or all three!) that he will perform were orchestrated by François Vallières and Guido del Fabbro. We can bet that through this great display, he will still succeed in moving us with his intense, skin-deep presence. This unique show will also be repeated on December 7.

Expozine, the show for great little books

The Montreal Book Fair is just around the corner, but as tradition dictates, its shaggy and gently rebellious little brother, Expozine, precedes it by a week. The admirable artisans of the world of homemade books will pile up on November 23 and 24 in the basement of the Saint-Arsène church, in La Petite-Patrie, with their crates of zines, these publications created with the noble means at hand . World Festival

The Mundial festival, a musical showcase for international and Canadian talents on the global scene, takes place from November 19 to 22. Around thirty artists were invited to participate in the event, including Soleil Launière (- revelation 2024), Laura Low, Les Passagers, MAUVEY, Blue Moon Marquee, Madame Vacile and many others. All will appear in Montreal venues, including the Lion d’Or, Le Ministère and the Café Campus. More than 300 industry professionals will also take part in Mundial, offering panels, workshops, networking sessions and more.
