This Thursday, November 21, the death of William Pinville was revealed in the media, including BFM TV. This dubbing actor was best known for being the voice-over of Julien Lepers in Questions for a champion for twenty-four years.

There are voices that we know much better than faces… This is the case of William Pinville who, however, worked for twenty-four years in the shadow of Julien Lepers within the teams of his flagship game, Questions for a champion. This Thursday, November 21, an entire program is in mourning since the emblematic announcer of the program died. Information confirmed by BFM from the TV Conseil agency. From 1992 to 2016, viewers heard him present thousands of candidates in search of the jackpot.

Death of William Pinville: the voice-over of Questions for a champion

As noted by our colleagues citing Le FigaroWilliam Pinville “he himself carved out the little texts of 5 or 6 seconds which are used to present the players” in Questions for a Champion. But his role did not stop there since he announced the amount of the prize pools and revealed the numerous gifts won by the winners over the years. Having become inseparable from his role, the trained actor replaced Jacques Bal, present from the beginning in 1988 to 1992. Thus, William Pinville had a longevity almost equal to that of Julien Lepers, recruited at the beginning. The duo was also ousted at the same time. Indeed, after two decades of working together every day, the host and his sidekick were dismissed in favor of a new formula carried by Samuel Étienne accompanied by a female voice. Clothilde Donna and, more recently, Francine Baudelot succeeded William Pinville. The latter has also embodied advertisements and audio books.

Questions for a super champion : deprogrammed after 18 years on the air

The France 3 grids no longer welcome Questions for a super championlaunched in 2006 by Julien Lepers. If the program survived the departure of its emblematic host, this summer, the public service decided to stop broadcasting this Sunday meeting. Therefore, the weekly show is broadcast Monday to Sunday at 6:10 p.m.
