Songblazers : A Journey Into Country was launched with great fanfare on July 10 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center in Nashville. The show co-produced with the Universal Group Nashville then began a tour of cities in the southern United States.

“Country and circus are two arts that come from the street, very community arts that have long rubbed shoulders in rural fairs, in village festivals,” creative director Daniel Ross told The Presswho was present at the launch. It’s a natural marriage. »

But the tour of this show staged by Amy Tinkham, which brought together around thirty artists on stage, ended prematurely barely four months after its launch, confirmed the management of Cirque du Soleil, which did not succeed to sell as many tickets as she wanted.

“The show unfortunately did not have the success we hoped for with the clientele we were targeting,” Amélie Robitaille, director of communications for Cirque touring shows, told us. Even though there was enthusiasm among the people who came to see us, we realized that country music fans were not necessarily circus fans. »

The end of the Cirque’s country adventure was quickly overshadowed by the announcement of new shows.

The first act begins with a stunning rendition of the Polynesian migration to the islands, as a troupe of high-flying acrobats are propelled by traveling swings and soar into the sky. »

“Our collective brought to life a fantastical, otherworldly journey through the songs, stories and traditions of our Hawaii, with heartbreaking performances descended directly from the heroes and luminaries of Hawaiian lore,” Aaron also said.
