One-stop shop: a government subsidy of $4.5M for an RTC application

The government of Quebec has confirmed the granting of a “maximum subsidy” of $4.5 million to help the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) to set up the mobile application which will constitute its “one-stop shop” bringing together all modes of transport.

The subsidy is awarded “for the development and deployment of a mobile application making it possible to plan, reserve and pay for travel within the territory of the Metropolitan Community of Quebec,” we could read, Wednesday, in the Official Gazette of Quebec.

Last spring, the RTC launched a call for tenders for this one-stop shop which aims to be “a simple and efficient tool available to customers to access all the modes of transport offered in the territory, whether they be public, private or shared.

Discretion

This call for tenders closed on August 28. According to the SEAO (electronic tender system of the Government of Quebec), we are still “waiting for the opening results [des enveloppes]”. It also states that “no supplier has requested to be publicly released”.

On Wednesday, the RTC simply repeated that announcements are coming and would not say whether there were one or more suppliers bidding.

In an executive summary from the City of Quebec, dated June, we can read that the total value of the contract for the implementation of the one-stop shop at the RTC is $14.3 million.
