Prince Harry went hard to promote his Invictus Games next year. The Duke of Sussex filmed a humorous video with one of the artists who will perform at the closing ceremony of his sporting event.
Prince Harry got his “first tattoo” by Jelly Roll in a humorous video to promote the 2025 Invictus Games.
In the images published on November 19 on social networks, the 40-year-old prince finds the singer in a tattoo studio, East Side Ink Tattoo, in New York.
He begins by asking him to perform at the closing ceremony of the sporting event, which will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, next February, but the Nashville native – real name Jason DeFord – informs him son of King Charles III that he is going to give him a tattoo instead. “It’s the coolest thing ever!” he tells Prince Harry, who replies: “No, I came here to ask you to participate in the Invictus Games. There’s no tattoo in there. I can’t get a tattoo.”
The hip hop star then assures him that he will perform at the Invictus Games, before asking him to let him get his “first tattoo”. Despite his hesitation, the Duke of Sussex agrees to have his lower back or behind inked. Jelly Roll insists, however, that the only appropriate place for the design is the side of his neck. “It’s for the whole world,” assures the 39-year-old artist, smiling.
After revealing the “tattoo” to a shocked Harry, a close-up reveals that the design features the Invictus Games’ “I AM” logo as well as the singer’s signature.
“Did you put your name on my neck?” wonders the father of two, as Jelly Roll gets up to leave, adding hastily: “See you in Vancouver!”
Prince Harry founded the Invictus Games, a multi-sport event for injured or ill military personnel and veterans, in 2014. The next edition of the event is expected to be the first competition to offer adapted winter sports, including alpine skiing. It will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025.
