Pauline Jeanbourquin has entered a new dimension. After presenting several short films at festivals such as the NIFFF (Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival) and the FIFF (Fribourg International Film Festival), the Jura director released her first feature film last week. Entitled “FEU FEU FEU”, this film tells the story of Juliette, a teenager and midwife in training. This production invites the public into discussions and youthful questions. “The summer when I turned 18 was quite foundational in my transition to adulthood and it was important for me to talk about this period,” explains Pauline Jeanbourquin. Broadcast since last week in several theaters in French-speaking Switzerland, the first screening in the canton of Jura will take place on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at Cinémont.
Accustomed to short films, Pauline Jeanbourquin had to change her way of working for this longer format. “A first feature film takes a lot of time. Between the first idea and the end, it took me five years. We had to find funding and the right person. Then the filming took me a month and the editing took me five months. You really have to be on your toes throughout and not give up so as not to miss the film,” says the Jurassian who speaks of it as a “marathon.” She does not hide her desire to make a feature-length fiction film. To do this, she will study in Canada for six months, thanks to the FARB scholarship. /lge
