The sublime Italian actress Monica Belluci makes her big return to the Marrakech International Film Festival (November 29 to December 7, 2024) to present her latest film, a documentary directed by Greek director Yannis Dimolitsas.
She will take part in a conversation about the documentary entitled “Maria Callas Monica Bellucci: An Encounter”, which will be presented in the 11th Continent section dedicated to bold and innovative films.
The film is an immersion into the life and legacy of Maria Callas, played by Monica Bellucci, through intimate memoirs, moving letters and never-before-seen images of the Greek singer.

It traces the world of Callas, from his humble beginnings in New York to his global triumph. Two distinct eras intersect: that when Callas reached the peak of his career and that of today, where his voice continues to captivate.
At the heart of this work, an essential dialogue between two women – Callas and Bellucci – who, despite different paths, come together in their devotion to art, underlines a presentation of the event.

This encounter between past and present reveals the human soul behind the legend and celebrates an artist who transformed her pain into timeless beauty.
The screening of the film is planned at the Auditorium of the Yves Saint Laurent Museum, on December 1 at 5:00 p.m., in the presence of director Yannis Dimolitsas, and will be followed by a conversation with Monica Bellucci.
