King Charles and Princess Camilla are in mourning. The royal family expressed their sadness on social networks on Monday, November 18, announcing the death of Beth, the dog that the queen adopted from the London shelter Battersea Dogs And Cats Home in 2011.
“A sad farewell to Beth, the beloved companion of the Queen of Battersea Dogs And Cats Home who brought her so much joy, whether on walks, helping her with her official duties or snuggling by the fire,” the royal family wrote on social media.
A text accompanied by photos where we see Beth with her mistress, or with King Charles crouching in the grass. The Jack Russell can also be seen in a video helping Camilla by pulling a curtain with his teeth to unveil a plaque at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2020.
In addition to Beth, Queen Camilla adopted another Jack Russell named Bluebell in 2012 from the Battersea Dogs And Cats Home, a shelter for which she has been an ambassador and godmother for many years. The association also declared that it was “very sad” to learn of Beth’s death.
“Beth was truly very special”
“We are very sad to learn that Beth, the dog rescued by the Queen, has sadly passed away. Her Majesty, our Patron, welcomed Beth from Battersea in 2011 and we have many fond memories of Beth visiting our centers over the years. Our thoughts are with Their Majesties at this time, we know how difficult it is to lose a beloved pet and Beth was truly very special,” said Peter Laurie, the shelter’s general manager.
Like Queen Elizabeth, the wife of the King of England attaches particular importance to her dogs. For example, she included them in official portraits of the royal family and also had them appear on her outfit during the coronation of Charles III, having them embroidered in gold near the border of her dress.
Difficult period for Queen Camila who lost one of her dogs only a few days after suffering a lung infection which excluded her from the Remembrance celebrations, which took place around ten days ago in England.
