While it is one of the best anime of the season, this show has everyone in agreement with its last episode broadcast on Thursday. If its animation was already stunning, this series adapted from a popular manga managed to bring this heartbreaking sequence to life in the best way, honoring this real tragedy.

Among fall anime, DanDaDan takes pride of place. While Jujutsu Kaisen, My Hero Acamedia and Demon Slayer are now finished in manga, DanDaDan is part of this generation of manga to take over and this notably involves an animated adaptation. If we once again wait for other big names like Sakamoto Days or Kagurabachi to be adapted, DanDaDan has been published since 2021 and has made a solid reputation in Weekly Shonen Jump. From now on, it is through its animated adaptation that the work of Yukinobu Tatsu shines thanks to the work of the Science SARU studio. And clearly, they surpassed themselves during their last episode.

A shocking and heartbreaking episode

On IMDB, one of the reference sites for everything related to cinema and series, episode 7 of DanDaDan received a rating of 9.8/10 and on social networks, opinions are all in this direction. It must be said that the anime set the bar very high, by presenting us with Acrobatic Silky’s past who was the antagonist of this arc until then. But in this episode, she ends up defending our heroes by saving Aira’s life, which allows Momo to relive her memories to understand how she transformed into a vengeful spirit.

It is then that we discover that Acrobatic Silky was a single mother who raised her little daughter alone, doing a series of jobs and other extras so that she could live as well as possible. While they both share a passion for dance, this difficult but joyful life will end after a tragedy. And that’s where Studio SARU shines with its production which manages to perfectly transcribe this sequence of incredible sadness. Whether it is through the cries of the mother, the use of a first-person view or even the quality of the animation, everything is successful in creating empathy in the viewer, which worked perfectly.

One of the best anime of 2024

DanDaDan makes us follow the adventures of Momo Ayase and Ken Takakura. If the first believes in spirits, the second only believes in extraterrestrials and both will try to convince the other that they are right. While the young girl goes to a place known to host aliens, the teenager finds himself in a haunted place to discover… that they are both right. What follows is a plot that mixes supernatural, action, but also romance since our two heroes will become closer as the plot progresses. Currently, the anime has already covered a little more than half of the first season since seven episodes have already been broadcast while twelve are planned. And given the quality of the show at the moment, it is clear that DanDaDan will remain one of the animes of the season, or even of 2024.
