Les Grandes Heures de Sceaux: a festive program to celebrate Christmas at the estate

The Grandes Heures de Sceaux are back for a winter edition, to be discovered on December 14 and 15, 2024. Come and celebrate the end-of-year holidays with cultural activities organized for the whole family.

Vast island of nature in the Hauts-de-Seine, classified in Historical monumentsthe Departmental domain of Sceaux attracts many Ile-de- residents in search of calm and greenery. More than 180 hectares of park, ponds, waterfalls and canals, flowering trees, a castle transformed into a museum… The estate has many points of attraction.

The place also attracts visitors thanks to its events and regular appointments. Exhibitions, parties, games, walks: audiences of all ages benefit from this varied program, all year round. Among the estate’s regular events, we find the Great Hours of Sealsa festive cultural event enjoyed three times a year.

At each edition, the Domaine de Sceaux offers you cultural activities around a theme, linked to the era of one of the owners. This event is organized in reference to the parties organized by the Duchess of Maine in the 17th century.

The weekend of December 14 and 15, 2024the Domaine de Sceaux goes into festive mode, with The Grandes Heures de Sceaux: Christmas at the castle. Several activities and shows are planned for the whole family during this weekend. Remember to book the activities you like in advance!

The program for this new edition of the Grandes Heures de Sceaux:

  • Visit of the Castle with
    December 14
    Music lovers or simply curious people, listen carefully, music escapes from the windows of the Château… During your visit to the Château, treat yourself to a musical break with the soprano Johanne Cassar, the cellist Jérémie Maillard and the harpist Florence Bourdon . The program is divided into four musical interludes. Both moving and festive, it is aimed at all music lovers. Can you recognize these tunes?
    At 2 p.m.: WA Mozart – Airs from the opera The Marriage of Figaro, 1786 Pietro Mascagni – Intermezzo
    At 2:45 p.m.: Georges Bizet – Airs from the opera Les Pêcheurs de pearls, 1863 Claude Debussy – Beau soir, melody for voice and piano composed in 1890 or 1891. Camille Saint-Saëns – The Swan, extract from Carnival of the Animals. Great zoological fantasy, 1886

    Slip into the shoes of Santa Claus or an elf to make your own animal-shaped paper gift bag! Alongside a mediator, prepare animal bags that will enhance your Christmas gifts.

  • Magic at the Castle
    December 15
    The trainees of the Double Fond magic school are moving into the Castle! The magicians circulate among the visitors of the Château to perform, a few centimeters from them, incredible magic tricks with common objects such as coins, cards, scarves… The atmosphere is festive and cheerful: from the youngest to the older ones, everyone laughs, lets themselves be carried away into the miraculous world of magicians and comes out with stars in their eyes.

  • Creative workshops: making table decorations
    December 15
    For the holidays, decorate your tables with pretty animal decorations! From 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., a mediator invites you to create elegant place cards and pretty gift tags, during 30-minute workshops.
