Liam Gallagher has dashed his fans’ hopes after leading them to believe in a series of tweets that Oasis would release a new album. The singer, who will embark on the rock group’s very first reformation tour next year after its dissolution in 2009, has had fun in recent weeks fueling the rumor on X/Twitter.
In response to a user asking him in September if it was “true that Oasis would release a new album”, Liam Gallagher replied: “Yep, it’s already finished”. Later, when another user of the social network claimed to “feel that an album was in the air”, the singer replied: “It’s in the bag man, it’s not in the air”. If some Internet users, accustomed to the artist’s sometimes extravagant remarks, were not convinced, others continued to believe him.
” I was bored “
That was without counting Liam Gallagher’s crude remark in response to another tweet last weekend. “Let’s fucking calm down, there’s no Oasis album in the works, I was just kidding,” he said. “Everyone’s a little uptight these days, I’m sorry if I upset anyone, but damn, it was all in jest.” With his well-known frankness, the 52-year-old star then responded to a user asking him why he was “playing with our feelings”: “Because I was bored”.
We can, however, understand the fans, since the patched-up brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher seemed to let the rumor of a reformation of the group circulate for a while before confirming it last August.
