Pascal Obispo returns with a new album and a tour

Pascal Obispo celebrates his 30-year career with a new album and an intimate tour. Freed from his record company, he explored new musical horizons.

Pascal Obispo is celebrating his 30th career with an album and a tour. His new album, The Archipelago of Aftermathsreleased on November 15, is mainly composed of duets with female singers.

The 59-year-old singer gives voice alongsideÉlodie Frégé, Zazie, Isabelle Boulay or even Nolwenn Leroy. He also composed a duet with Carla Bruni, His childish soul. This disc follows The Beauty that Rainsreleased last year.

Obispo started an intimate tour on November 7, where he performs new songs like Notre-Dame and . Songs that are not on the album The Archipelago of Aftermathsbut on its Obispo All Access application.

On January 11, he will celebrate his 60th birthday on stage at the Accor Arena in . “I think it’s quite rare to see artists giving their age on posters,” rejoices the singer at the microphone of BFMTV. “I find it amusing, it’s a form of pirouette.”

Since he left his record company Sony and founded his own structure, the artist now feels freer. “The day I decided to leave the record company, I felt extremely liberated,” he explains.

“It was a real rejuvenation to be able to explore all the music. I imagine the head of my record company today if I were to arrive and tell them: I would like to make an album of eight jazz tracks. They would have a little panicked.”

The singer plans to gradually withdraw and devote himself to painting. “We know the big joke: the one who announces the end of his career and who is going to make a Sardou or an Aznavour. I don’t want people to make that kind of reflection to me.”

“We have to realize that our time has passed a little,” he concludes. “I see the young guns. I feel like I see myself. I know what I was thinking at the time, that they’d better pass. And maybe that’s what I’ll do .”
