“I’m addicted to my screens, and I know you are too.” It is with this question that the video of the influencer Léna Situations begins, who spoke this Monday on her YouTube channel about her month spent without a screen. A challenge she set for herself: “no iPhone, television, computer, cinema or even music. »
The video begins with an observation: Léna estimates she spends 7 hours a day on screens, and describes one of her typical days. “Even when I try to relax, there are always screens nearby,” she whispers. And to ask yourself: “What would these 7 hours look like if I freed them? » The influencer then equips herself with a “little bigo 3310 (a Nokia 3310 button phone)” for “emergencies” as well as a vlog camera to “document this whole experience”.
The experiment will be done gradually: initially, she will be able to use WhatsApp and her messaging, but only on her computer during working hours (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Then, this time will be limited to two hours per day. Before reaching the final step: no more screens during the day, even at work.
“I spent the day looking for my iPhone”
In the video, Léna talks about her (re)discovery of daily life activities: reading, the Sunday morning flea market, coloring evenings, sessions at the gym or even cooking recipes. The first weeks are the hardest: “I spent the day looking for my iPhone and tapping my pocket,” she laughs one evening when she gets home.
Above all, she begins to feel the benefits of this disconnection, including in her human relationships. “I feel more and more present. I was really involved in the conversations, more than usual,” remarks Léna after a weekend with friends. When it comes time to take stock, she considers the experience enriching and above all… relaxing. “I blew it, and it felt really good,” she says.
However, the YouTuber is not ready to continue this life without screens. “What I missed the most was not being able to share what I was going through, because my passion is creating content,” explains Léna, adding that there is no, according to her, only negative aspects of our digital dependence. “I’m not going to completely leave the screens because that would be hypocritical, and it also brings me joy: it’s something human, which brings us together.”
Léna Situations will in any case keep certain rules for this special month, such as not using your phone when you wake up. In conclusion, she has a message for her subscribers: “If screens bring you more negativity than joy, you need to regain control over this addiction.”
Léna Situations is best known for her content that combines lifestyle, fashion and personal development. Her notoriety increased with “Vlogmas”, a series of daily videos published every December, in which she shares her daily life in a sincere and creative way.
Léna has also made a name for herself in the world of fashion, collaborating with major brands and attending prestigious events like Fashion Week. In 2020, the release of her book “Always More”, where she advocates positive thinking and perseverance, reinforced her status as a model of her generation.
