In Neufchâtel-en-Bray, the Restos du coeur center kicked off the 40th winter campaign. This year again the number of beneficiaries is increasing with nearly 300 families welcomed which represents around 600 people.
A special effort for babies
New this year is the special attention paid to young children. Volunteers have been trained to best welcome them with their parents and a section dedicated to 0-36 months has been installed. The objective is that babies under three years old can benefit from meals adapted to their needs : milk according to their age, small pots and diapers for all sizes. Until now, children were considered adults from the age of one.
More and more retirees among the beneficiaries
If the number of registrants is increasing, the number of retirees has particularly increased notes center manager Sylvette Vieuxbled. There are 65 of them today in Neufchâtel, proof that life is becoming more and more expensive, Sylvette believes: “I think that when you are retired, when you have worked, when you receive your pension, to pass through the door of a charitable association, it is an extremely high step for these people and they deprive themselves and they arrive when they are in greater difficulty“.
The Neufchâtel center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon and Saturday morning.
