This year, the association Our History in Lights had to postpone its annual show to mid-September and with the cold, the spectators did not flock to Précigné. (Sarthe).

“The show left us with a deficit of €8,000, fortunately almost entirely compensated by our other activities,” explains the president, Bruno Morin.

In 2024, the association organized two lottos and a barbecue at the swimming pool, in addition to costume rentals from the Connaissance du Baugeois association for its exhibition on costumes through the ages. “This allows us to end the year with only €500.”

Several unfavorable factors

Several unfavorable factors meant that the public did not show up for the show, the change of date, the cold and competition from the show at La Suze the same weekend. Analysis of the origin of the public shows that the Précignéens were the main absentees with only 25 inhabitants of the town on Friday and a little less on Saturday. “We had spectators from Le Mans, Nantes and the Paris region. »

A garage sale to straighten out finances?

The association is also struggling with the drop in the number of volunteers, even if this year it recruited a few young actors. “They turned out to be good actors,” rejoices the director, Didier Desbrosses, who adds, “either we make do or we disappear, it’s up to us to adapt.”

In order to restore finances, the association has asked to organize the garage sale which will take place on May 4, 2025, jointly with another association.

In order to find the public again, Notre Histoire en Lumière has decided to return to the usual period and the dates of the next show have been set at August 29 and 30, 2025.
