“If we put everything back together, I would like the place of TF1 or that of 2”: Nicolas de Tavernost speaks on the future numbering of channels

“Everyone wants to take their place.” Here is the title of the paper which comes out today in the daily newspaper “Le Parisien”. The latter is interested in the scheduled shutdown of C8 and NRJ12 which will leave two empty places in the numbering of television channels.

“The further away we are, the less advertising revenue we have”

In the one-page article written by Benoît Daragon, we can read in relation to this game of musical chairs: “To make your decision, My face promises to take into account the overall economics of the television market. Because these changes could have serious consequences on everyone's finances. The closer we are in the numbering, the more viewers we have, many of whom quickly get tired of zapping. And so the further away we are, the less advertising revenue we have”.

The media journalist from Le Parisien also says about the one who replaced, in 2000, Jean Drucker as Chairman of the Management Board of the M6 channel: “In this discreet lobbying, alone Nicolas de Tavernost dares to publicly express his total disapproval. “Why change rules that have existed for more than thirty years?” the former captain of M6 chokes. On the phone this Friday, he is annoyed that those who arrived late on TNT want to take advantage of the situation to overtake all the pioneers: 'Many channels have their channel number in the name, which clearly proves that' it was always assumed that this would not change. But if we put everything back together, I really want the place of TF1 or that of 2'”.
