Better than last year, but not enough to win the title of most beautiful woman in the world. Miss 2023 Indira Ampiot failed to win the competition Miss Universe 2024.

The competition, broadcast on the night of Saturday 16 to Sunday 17 November 2024, crowned Victoria Kjær Theilvig (Miss Denmark). Indira Ampiot finished in 20th place.

France 20th (but it’s better than last year!)

It took three hours and the multiple passages of 128 candidates from all over the world so that the jury can make their choice, from the Arena Ciudad de México. The latter paraded in swimsuits, evening dresses and then traditional costumes.

A first round of competitors (20) was selected during a preliminary show and invited to parade in swimsuits. The 10 best were then decided during a new evening dress parade.

Their number was divided in half, leaving a top 5. The verdict was finally in: it was the Danish Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, 21, who won the crown.

Indira Ampiot, ranked 20th, can however be pleased with her performance: she performed better than her colleague last year. As a reminder, Diane Leyre failed to enter the Top 20 during the Miss Universe 2023 competition.

Candidates for Miss Universe and mothers, a first

This 73rd edition of Miss Universe was also marked by the presence for the first time of candidates with children. There were 10 of them, including Beatrice Njoya from Malta, aged 40 and mother of three children.

Among the public favorites of this 73rd edition, a 28-year-old Venezuelan Ileana Márquez, is the mother of a daughter. This educator, model and television presenter came 5th.

Among the 12 semi-finalists, Jennifer Colón, from Puerto Rico, is 36 years old and has three children. Also among them was Logina Salah, a 34-year-old single mother Egyptian model who suffers from vitiligo, an autoimmune disease.

In 2023, the competition (which promises to evolve from year to year) had included married women, plus-sized women and two transgender women.
