Pianist Lise Khatib will play works by “Revolutionary and Romantic Composers” on Saturday, November 23 in the exceptional setting of the Château de la Douve in Bourg-d’Iré. She is the guest of the Association for the preservation and development of the Combrée college.
How did you choose the theme for this concert?
Lise Khatib : “They are revolutionary composers, because Hélène de Montgeroult and Julie Candeille lived during the French Revolution. Part of their lives stems from these events. Late 18th centurye-early 19th centuryethey opened towards romanticism. Fanny Mendelssohn, at the heart of romanticism (1805-1847) and Mel Bonis (1858-1937), post-romantic, broke the rules. They made a revolution which gradually led to the emancipation of women and their possibilities to compose and create.
