The Norman rapper will star in David Tomaszewski’s film – shot in Japan – in which he will have the main role. The French artist returns to cinema ten years after his debut in How far is it.
While waiting for a new “solo” piece from Orelsan, fans of the Norman rapper will have to be content with new information on his next film. The big screen release of Yoroi was announced for October 22, 2025 by Sony Pictures – which the rapper joined in 2023 for a record amount of 15 million euros. The interpreter of Basic (2015) will play the main role, that of Aurélien Cotentin, his real name.
Last September, he declared on Planète Rap that the project was on the right track: “ We finished filming, more or less, and we are starting the editing ». The one of Yoroiwhose screenplay was entirely written by the French rapper and one of his most loyal collaborators, director David Tomaszewski. The latter produced several of Orelsan’s clips, notably Fear of Failure (2011) or The smell of gasoline (2021). He was also at the helm of the Canal+ series Blocked (2015), a big hit among teenagers in the mid-2010s.

Thousands of kilometers from Caen – Orelsan’s hometown – the intrigue of Yoroi takes place in Japan, sometime after the end of the Civilisation Tour. « After a last grueling tour, Aurélien decides to settle in Japan with his wife Nanako, pregnant with their first child. While the young couple moves into a traditional house in the Japanese countryside, Aurélien discovers ancestral armor in a well which will awaken strange creatures, the Yokaïs… », Explains the press release from Sony Pictures.
