There are four of them, aged between 15 and 52, and they form the group Thinking too much, which has been performing on the stages of Picardy for a year. This Friday, November 15, they are releasing their very first EP: a new step for this small group that is on the rise.

A day is 25 hoursa day lasts 25 hours: the name of the group’s first EP Thinking too much announces the color, there is something strange and eccentric in their universe. Over the five titles, stories of monsters under the bed, obsessive thoughts, lies and conflicts, are carried by the powerful voice ofÉlise, youngest of the group, but certainly not the most discreet of the quartet.
The young woman also plays her cello to punctuate certain pieces, but the main instrument of this student from the Amiens conservatory is her vocal cords. Semi-finalist of The Voice kids in 2023, at only 15 years old, she knows how to explore emotions and intensity throughout the pieces, brilliantly carrying the melodies of her three instrumentalist accomplices Charles, François and Lionel.
“We are a group that sleeps little, with an idea at the minute” summarizes François, the dean of the group, whose mastered bass sets the tone of the first eponymous title of the EP, in duet with the drums of Charles, his son. An opening with a nod to the origin of the group, born from this family complicity.
Because François, 52, is passionate about music: trained drummer and self-taught bassist, he passes on the love of rhythm to his son Charles, who is now 18 years old. When the latter prepares for the entrance exam to the Amiens conservatory, he calls on Élise’s voice. He is received, their friendship continues.
Musical alchemy begins between them and Léandre, 25, a guitarist with whom François has been playing for several years, joins the project. The quartet is formed and can begin to explore a whole new musical universe, strongly marked by 70s rock, but where everyone’s influences find a place to express themselves.
Their new goal: “Mix different influences as much as possible, avoiding the catalog aspect” specifies François. The bet seems won, the powerful rock riffs meet reggae rhythms in Mistakenthird track of the EP where the ear is hooked from the first bars by Élise’s melody.
The group has been playing festivals and stages in Picardy for a year, performing covers. With these five titles, he can finally assert his style on stage. From rehearsing for a few hours a week, he moved to full-day sessions. Things are becoming clearer. From there to becoming a professional? “Living from it is complicated, even if young people want it” tempers François.
This first opus is in any case promising, it is available on CD from this Friday, November 15 at Tower’s Pub where Thinking too much is happening and on November 29, on all listening platforms. A few other dates are planned in Amiens and Rouen, the musicians now want “do the biggest tour possible and go on to summer festivals.“The music is ready, it only asks to meet its audience.
