SAccording to the press release published this November 15 in Rabat, this series of exchanges will bring together 18 major personalities from world cinema, representing six continents.
“This is one of the most anticipated events of the festival.”, underlines the press release, which specifies that these meetings will allow festival-goers to exchange freely with renowned creators. The program promises “casual discussions” on their vision and practice of the profession.
Among the distinguished guests, we find several winners of the biggest international awards. The press release notably mentions the presence of emblematic figures of cinema such as Tim Burton, David Cronenberg and Alfonso Cuarón. Director Ava DuVernay, filmmaker Todd Haynes and actor Sean Penn will also travel to Marrakech.
The festival also gives pride of place to international cinema with the participation of British actress Gemma Arterton, Australian director Justin Kurzel, French filmmaker François Ozon, and Iranian director Mohammad Rasoulof. Brazilian cinema will be represented by Walter Salles, while Russian director Kirill Serebrennikov and Mauritanian filmmaker Abderrahmane Sissako will bring their unique perspectives to these conversations.
France will also be in the spotlight with the presence of Justine Triet, while Moroccan cinema will occupy a special place in the program. Indeed, the press release announces a conversation bringing together four promising Moroccan filmmakers: Alaa Eddine Aljem, Yasmine Benkiran, Ismaël El Iraki and Kamal Lazraq, who will discuss their first films.
