Attendance up 8.5% at the Gévaudan museum in 2024

After two years of opening, this result is far superior to the preliminary studies.

Attendance at the Gévaudan museum is increasing. In 2023, the total number of entries was 28,165 visitors. In October 2024, it had already reached 27,218 entries, an increase of 8.5% compared to last year (25,085 entries from January to October 2023).

The establishment can also count on the Ciap (Interpretation, Architecture and Heritage Center) of the Land of and History Mende and Lot in Gévaudan, on the ground floor, with which it shares the carrying out educational workshops and reflection on cultural programming.

A popular temporary exhibition

An influx higher than previous studies which estimated the number of annual visitors at 17,500. This increase in attendance is particularly noticeable during the high season with a significantly higher number of entries for the months of July and August: + 48.1% of entries in July (4,033 entries in 2023, compared to 5,973 in 2024) and + 11.16% admissions in August (5595, in 2023, against 6664, in 2024).

This attendance can, among other things, be explained by the good reception given to the new temporary exhibition: 300 years of talent: Brueghel, Géricault, Delacroix, Rodin… Dialogue of Béziers-Mende collections. She offers everyone has the opportunity to discover artists from the major genres of European art from the 16th centurye century to the 20the century. This, inaugurated on July 13 and available until January 5, 2025, alone recorded more than 4,502 entries, from July to October.

Working in synergy

In addition to its permanent collection and the temporary exhibition, of numerous events, activities, theme evenings and guided tours are offered by the museum and its teams.

This progression is the culmination of the work of numerous stakeholders such as the tourist office, the Pays d’art et d’histoire Mende et Lot en Gévaudan or the association of Friends of the Gévaudan Museum. They work in synergy with the museum teams.
