A new president at the head of this cultural association of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin

Ten years ago, the Cherbourg association 3 Angles (3A) organized his very first exhibition.

“Behind this title of 3A, there was the idea of ​​bringing together photography, painting and writing through regional cultural events», explains the painter Jean-Philippe Burnel co-founder of the association with the photographer Norbert Hardyand the author Emmanuelle Lemesle .

The exhibition in question was dedicated to the artist Lucien Goubert and was presented to Tourp manoras well as in Flamanville.

It was followed by many others, notably around Jean-Marie Savage, Paul Bony, Jacques Picquery, Frédéric Faye, Gérard Gwezennec and Gustave Bazire.

A collaboration in summer 2024

Publications were added, as well as the organization of events, such as the engraving art parade in 2022 under the leadership of the creator Anne Mignotand the choreographer Samuel Gourfink or even a project of Land art between the Mont de Besnevilleand the forest of Saint-Sauveur-le-Vicomte in summer 2023 .

Even more recently, during the summer of 2024, a collaboration between 3A, the Manche departmental council and the IUT Cherbourg-Manche made it possible to set up an exhibition at Hambye Abbey and a new publication on the works of Jean-Philippe Burnel et Marc Taupin around the theme of the medieval bestiary.

A focus on street art

L’activity of the association has also expanded from 2015 to projects of street artin Cherbourg, with the creation of “Wall of Cherbourg”, Secularism Square the achievement for the 2016 Tour de of an immense 3,000 m² frescoon the ground of quay of Francebased on an original drawing by Jerome Studeror even that of a very large portrait of the writer Émile Zola by Pierre Burnelcarried out in 2022 at the corner of the rue Émile-Zola and rue Gibert.

“We still have many projects in mind particularly in street art. On the occasion of next St. Patrick’s Day(next March 17), we are planning to create a portrait of an Irish artist somewhere in Cherbourg,” announces Michel Géhannewho has just taken the presidency of the association.

It thus succeeds Norbert Hardywho wanted to hand over after ten years “good and loyal service” .

We currently have around fifteen members. Among other changes, Étienne Debré takes the position of vice-president. And for the street art component, Julie Travers is now in charge of programming, replacing Pierre Burnel.

Federate other associations

For years to come, l’association 3 Anglesalso wishes to continue to bring together “the different artistic chapels and goodwill, associative and culturalwho are looking to do something in Cotentin.”

A bridge has already been found with the Society of Friends of the Museums and Monuments of Cherbourg and Cotentin, including Michel Géhanne is the vice-president.

“At the moment, a working group is looking into the inventory of the little masters of Cotentin which could lead to an exhibitionet a catalog. »
