A new operator sets up in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre
This Wednesday, November 13, a new cinema opens in the Nantes area, under the Grand Écran brand. This new multiplex enters the arena, in La Chapelle-sur-Erdre, the day of the release of Gladiator 2. And hopes to attract 200,000 spectators per year.
Six theaters – including a premium Cinemax – and 930 seats, over 3,000 m²: this will be the fourteenth multiplex of the independent group, present from Nantes to Bordeaux, via Limoges, where the head office is based and run by the same family since four generations. “Finding our place is going to be a challenge”confided Benoît Dubost, director of the new multiplex, a few weeks before the opening. To attract spectators, the brand is offering unique discovery prices at €5 per session, until November 26. Enough to attract light and cast shadows on surrounding cinemas ?
Pathé has lowered its prices since November 6
For Jean Hullin, director of Pathé in Nantes and Saint-Herblain, to the north of the city, “ there will inevitably be an impact, that’s obvious”. He is sure: “ The people north of Nantes were divided between UGC and me, at Atlantis. We will be affected. And the cinemas of the South Loire too, equidistant for certain municipalities in the North. » According to the boss of Pathé, « l proximity matters beyond price. If the film people want to see is near where they live, they will go as close as possible. »
Big screen will it only…
