cinema, debate and concert for the AlimenTerre festival

DThese exceptional screenings are planned at the Andronis cinema in Montendre as part of the AlimenTerre festival. On Friday, November 15, at 6 p.m., a film debate and the screening of the documentary “Traillée de powder”, by André Chandelle and Patrick Remacle. And on Saturday, November 16, at 8:45 p.m., a film concert combining a preview screening of the film “En fanfare” by Emmanuel Courcol, preceded by a small concert of “La Lyre montendraise” which will perform music from the movie.

Crisis in the dairy sector

The first documentary relates the crisis in the agricultural sector which is hitting the dairy sector hard. The end of quotas has mechanically led to overproduction which has a downward influence on the price paid at the farm. This suits manufacturers in the dairy sector who export butter in particular, the price of which per tonne has doubled in a few years. The fats extracted from milk remain a dry powder that industries have succeeded in valorizing. They are flooding African countries with them at low prices, which penalizes African producers and further weakens African societies. But some are fighting to change this system which impoverishes producers in Europe and Africa. “Powder Trail” takes us on the journey of these people who face this destructive globalization.

“Exchanges are planned after the film with themes: how, as a French consumer and citizen, can we support French and African dairy farmers? What levers do we have to show solidarity? », Specifies Janine Dumoulin, president of the Clap Montendre association, responsible for managing the Andronis cinema.

Love of music

The second screening, “En fanfare”, tells the story of Thibaut, an internationally renowned conductor who travels the world. When he learns that he was adopted, he discovers the existence of a brother, Jimmy, a school canteen employee who plays the trombone in a marching band in the north of . Apparently, everything separates them, except the love of music. Detecting his brother’s exceptional musical abilities, Thibaut makes it his mission to repair the injustice of fate. Jimmy then begins to dream of another life…
