Asterix, the new virtual reality game which is a hit this fall near

the essential
“Asterix: Potions Mission!” is a new game offered by Virtual Room studios, which offers a successful immersion in the world of the Gauls. A center offers it in its catalog in Labège, and it is a success. We tested it for you.

Asterix is popular at the moment. Between his immersive exhibition in and the Netflix series in preparation with the animation studios TAT, the little mustachioed Gaul continues to attract followers, 65 years after his creation.

A virtual reality game is dedicated to it for the first time. “Asterix: Potions Mission!” offers an immersion in the world of comics, with VR technology. Released this fall, it was developed by the French Virtual Room studios, leaders in the collaborative virtual reality market, in collaboration with Hachette editions.

“It’s a big production. It was really a challenge to take on,” explains Oriane, who co-manages the Virtual Room complex in Labège. Since Asterix joined the games catalog in September, success has been achieved. Nearly 700 players have already come to try it out in just a few weeks. “We didn’t expect such a welcome. The feedback was very positive. It’s been a big success for us since the start of the school year,” she adds.

In the Panoramix hut

This game is aimed at all audiences, from 9 years old. We tested it, and it is indeed very pleasant to understand. The first sequence opens in Panoramix’s hut, which asks the players like us to make a magic potion, using the ingredients found nearby. As it is a collaborative game, it is essential to work as a team with the other player, and to communicate to find solutions together. In the event of a blockage, Oriane intervenes in the players’ earpiece to give them clues.

The following sequence takes place in the Gallic countryside, in which you can move around in search of four-leaf clovers. Other scenes take place in the prison and in the Gallic village, which is very familiar to us. It looks like it! Without revealing the whole scenario, the game is fun, very fluid, while remaining extremely faithful to the universe of Goscinny and Uderzo. It is easy to learn and brings its share of adventures over a satisfying duration of 45 minutes.

“It was a risk, because tackling Asterix is not trivial. We had to not disappoint the fans, while attracting VR enthusiasts,” adds the co-manager. A successful bet for this game, which sits at the crossroads of cinema and escape game. Virtual Room, whose address in Labège opened in 2021, became known in particular with its game “Time Travel”, which allows you to go back in time.
