Professionals based in France who traveled to Italy last weekend can be reassured. In the coming days, Loris Garcia, Richard Westerink, Benjamin Goetz and Pierrick Le Moel will recover all of the equipment and sulkys that were stolen from them, during the night from Saturday to Sunday at the Montegiorgio racecourse (Italy), as revealed in our columns. That night, after having evaded the vigilance of the guards, several people entered the barn where four French horses were staying, called to compete, the next day, in the Palio des Communes, stealing four sulkys and the complete harnesses for an amount approaching the €40,000. Alerted, the racecourse officials launched an investigation led by the local police, who took no time to find the stolen equipment. “They found everything in a wood, near a river, not far from the racecourse”reveals a source close to the matter. Perfectly intact, the four sulkys and the complete harnesses will soon be returned to France. According to our information, well-known equipment sellers in Italy but also in France, present at the race meeting organized on Sunday in Montegiorgio, were arrested and immediately placed in police custody.
