, an association helping the homeless, performs with hip-hop dancers Fargues-sur-Langon

“I know the text by heart when I’m all alone at home, but here, I forget everything,” regrets Jocelyne. This is one of the last rehearsals before the show. There is the desire to do well, to have fun, but also the stage fright which is starting to rear its head. On November 16, Elsa, Jocelyne, Ulies and Claude will be on stage at the Maison du temps libre in Fargues-sur-Langon.

Elsa Maillot is the coordinator of the La Ferme des Lilas association, she will play alongside people supported at the day center. “We have done solidarity parades in previous years, for the first time, this year, we decided to write a play,” she explains. Since June, the team, employees, volunteers, beneficiaries, have participated in weekly theater workshops, supervised by a director, who was supported by the association.

A daytime welcome through the ages

The idea of time travel was retained. Then the theme, which brings them all together: the life of a day center for people in precarious situations, unfolded over the ages. The actors will travel through prehistory, the Middle Ages and the 1970s to see if things were better before.

A show to change the way we view homeless people

During their journey, they will meet Neanderthal men and even robots from the future, played by the dancers of the Abyssal, with the coordination of Alain Gouthon. Two children and an adult are participating in the show which will bring together artists from 9 to 70 years old.

“Doing theater allows you to be someone else,” believes Jocelyne. I’m playing my own character, but I’m going to exaggerate everything. We will find my vulgar language again,” she laughs. The one who has been attending the day center for a year has just found a job, but she wanted to be there. Claude, who arrived three years ago, is not cutting ties either. “They found me a place to live. I am no longer accompanied, but I remain a member. » A few days before the big evening, Ulies fears confrontation with the public, but hopes to progress.

With this show, Elsa Maillot hopes to “change the way people look at homeless people, promote living together and access to culture”.

November 16 at the House of Free Time in Fargues-sur-Langon. Free entry. Doors open at 6 p.m. Show at 7 p.m.

A new location

The day center, open since January 2022 on rue Brion in Langon, will move. On December 2, the association will take up residence at 42, cours du Maréchal-de-Lattre-de-Tassigny on the site of the former Le Menhir creperie. Born in 2020, the Ferme des Lilas aimed to create a welcoming place on a farm. Today, the association coordinated by Elsa Maillot, one of the founders, focuses on rehousing assistance. In the current premises, those accompanied can take a shower, drink coffee, have lunch or find comfort. “We are going to go from 60 to 100 m² with better defined spaces,” rejoices the coordinator. On the occasion of this new beginning, she is launching a call for volunteers: “You have to have a social fiber, we support people with difficult life paths. But we can offer training. »
