Labastide-Rouairoux. Documentary month with Echos-ci, echos-là

Every year for more than 20 years, the documentary has been highlighted in November. For this occasion, the Échos-ci, Échos-là association is offering a hybrid evening on Saturday, November 30, in collaboration with Documentaire sur Grand Écran. A “Double Game” which brings together two documentaries: a contemporary film and a classic.

At 4 p.m. in the Jacques Brel room, “Sociology is a combat sport” by Pierre Carles will be screened.

“I often say that sociology is a combat sport, it is an instrument of self-defense. We use it to defend ourselves, essentially, and we have no right to use it to make bad moves” declares Pierre Bourdieu. By intruding into his office, his classrooms, or during demonstrations, Pierre Carles’ camera reveals the thoughts of Pierre Bourdieu, a thought that unfolds as familiar, next to us, and always accessible, that of a French intellectual who chooses to think about his time.

At 7 p.m., a “Spanish inn” meal will take place at Maison Sudre: nothing better than a good gourmet break between two films, around dishes to share in order to make this meal a moment of warm exchange.

Return to the Jacques Brel cinema at 8:30 p.m. to discover the film “Edouard Louis ou la transformation” by François Caillat. This documentary film tells the story of the metamorphosis of a boy, from a sub-proletarian Picardy background, into a star of French cultural life. Édouard Louis, who in just a few years has become the writer-spokesperson for a generation, urges each of us to make permanent transformation a new way of existence.
