In PICTURES. The nuances of a colorful and popular 38th Bebop festival

As Andrick Airways sang, Saturday November 9, 2024, to a tune of reggae, “we are all together, like a big family, a constellation, shining stars…” That was a bit of a summary of this 38e edition of the festival. Discovery and sharing between generations. At Bebop, we display accounting satisfaction, but above all musical satisfaction. Bruno Le Roy, festival programmer, is “quite happy, with like last year, around five thousand spectators, if we add up the two evenings. At La Flèche and La Ferté-Bernard, it was full. And Allonnes, we had the little rock’n’roll wink…”

Mixing of generations

Beyond the figures, we can only be satisfied with the discoveries offered by the programming and the mixing of generations that it caused. We ranged from very young spectators to white heads. “We saw at least three generations at the Forum, welcomes Bruno Leroy. Note the remarkable fervor aroused by the plethora of Ile-de-France group (13 musicians), which won support on Saturday evening. A bit like Dionysus the day before. “I also liked that the audience of Dionysus discovered Yamé, smiles Bruno Leroy. And realizes he wasn’t a rapper more, but a talented singer. That’s what our festival is: making musical journeys so that people can discover something else. »

Stay curious or become curious, the Bebop mantra. Next edition, the 39ewill take place from November 4 to 8, 2025. “I hope to announce the first names before Christmas, wishes Bruno Leroy. I have some leads but we’re waiting for confirmation. Knowing that we work in synergy with several festivals, to pool dates and avoid extravagant fees. »
