She is not thirty years old but already has a very busy career. Leila Huissoud went through street singing, opening acts until reaching The Voice season 3.
The French singer released her album “La Malaborde” this year and will be in concert in Chécy (Loiret) Friday November 15, 2024 to space Georges-Sand.
From her first pieces to the pleasure of the stage, she tells us his journey.
Actu : What is your first connection with music?
Leïla Huissoud: I started making songs because I was dyslexic when I was little. My speech therapist gave me collections of poems to read to improve my speech. And reading them out loud started to form my first little pieces. To put another blow to my shyness, I went to sing them in the street. From there, Luc Abrogast (Editor’s note: musician previously on The Voice) spotted me and took me on to my first games. Together we did the Olympia and which allowed me to do The Voice afterwards.
In terms of music, who were your first musical influences?
: I was born in the deep countryside between my father, a fan of theater and literature, who listened to Georges Brassens, Léo Ferré, Georges Moustaki, and my mother who mainly listened to Brigitte Fontaine or Vincent Delerm. Today, I thought this musical genre had disappeared. But rather he mutated, he was transformed. That’s what’s beautiful, is that art evolves.
You can do whatever you want and have a character, it’s just a scene!
You’ve been doing concerts for ten years, what moments have you kept from these tours?
: I would say it’s more the small moments, the small rooms. I had a lot of emotions in a small bar in which I played in Normandy. It was very warm. Afterwards, the biggest dates in the biggest venues were big moments of stress, but that doesn’t mean it will still be a source of great pride.
What do you like about performing?
: Everything is permitted, everything is fair. You can do whatever you want and have a character, it’s just a scene! It is also an exchange with the public.
Your new album “La Malaborde” is out. How did you prepare it?
: For two years, I decided to take my pieces composed during confinement and go and test them in small bars. I really wanted to discuss with the public which pieces we keep and which we throw away. I didn’t want to record the album without having their opinion. Since then, “La Clumsiness” has been released and we are going on tour until the end of next year.
