Queen Camilla, the wife of Charles III, who suffers from a lung infection, will not participate in military commemorations planned in London on Saturday and Sunday, Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday.
“Following the advice of doctors and to ensure a complete recovery” of the interested party, while “protecting others”Camilla, 77, will not attend the weekend’s commemorative events, said a palace spokesperson, quoted in a press release, relayed by theAFP.
These commemorations include an event at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday evening and then a tribute ceremony on Sunday at the official British war memorial, the Cenotaph.
“Lung infection”
Princess Kate, wife of Prince William, will be present at the commemorations. She announced in September the end of her chemotherapy in a video shot with her husband William and their three children, paving the way for a gradual resumption of her public commitments.
The Queen Consort “hopes to return to public office early next week”the palace further indicated. He announced on Tuesday that she was suffering “from a lung infection”without giving additional information on the seriousness of his illness. According to British media, the queen is under the supervision of doctors.
Charles III and Camilla, who married in 2005, returned at the end of October from a tour of the Pacific which took them to Australia and Samoa. They stopped in India for a private tour on the way home.
The king, aged 75, announced at the start of the year that he was suffering from cancer, the nature of which has not been revealed.
