the touching declaration of Émilie Dequenne, suffering from cancer

The Belgian actress spoke this Friday about her illness. Confidences which received numerous reactions.

The Belgian actress revealed on April 5 that she was in complete remission from her cancer, an adrenocortical tumor located in the kidney. However, at the end of the summer, Émilie Dequenne did not bring good news, explaining on her social networks that she would not be able to honor her commitments for the rest of the year. This Friday, November 8, she published a new message on Instagram, a few words plastered on a black background: “Aaaaargh. Need to express myself. It’s not good to compare, but I miss my life “before” so much,” she wrote. And added: “I will adapt, do differently. But sometimes it's really hard. And I miss playing SO MUCH!” A touching statement, captioned with the hashtag “#nocomment”.

Her post, accompanied by a photo of herself, received many comments. “Courage Emilie! Don't give up! You will come back even stronger and everything that awaits you will only be stronger!”, replied Sonia Rolland. Elsa Zylberstein added: “Oh my darling, I’m here ️ you are so wonderful”.

Awarded the Best Actress Award at in 1999 for her unforgettable performance in Rosetta of the Dardenne brothers, Émilie Dequenne announced that she was suffering from cancer in October 2023 before ensuring, after several months, that she was in complete remission. Aged 43 and married to Michel Ferracci, she then declared: “The battle is not over. I am under very close surveillance and undergoing treatment, but my morale is of steel. What am I saying! A joy of living worthy of a princess who talks to birds!”
