brothers on screen, accomplices in life

“We were at Cours Florent together. We really wanted to get together to make this film,” say Benjamin Voisin and Stefan Crepon, actors in “Playing with Fire,” by Delphine and Muriel Coulin, presented Friday, November 8 in official selection at the Sarlat Film Festival (Dordogne). ).

In life, the complicity of the two young people is obvious. They like to joke and pass the buck. On screen, they play two brothers who live with their father, a railway worker in , played by Vincent Lindon, who unfortunately was not able to come to Sarlat.

Stefan Crepon plays the cadet, a brilliant student who has just been admitted to the Sorbonne. Benjamin Voisin is Fus, the eldest, uncomfortable in his skin, attracted by violence, recruited into an extreme right group. The family trio, once very close-knit, is feeling the effects of this situation. Everyone distances themselves. When drama breaks out. Inevitable.

“Great times”

“I felt very lucky to have this role. I was quite calm in the interpretation,” underlines Benjamin Voisin. For Stefan Crepon, the difficulty “was finding my place between two personalities who are constantly tearing each other apart, knowing how I position myself, especially in silences”.

And Vincent Lindon? Unanimous response. “It’s a strong presence without being overwhelming. He liked us because we come from the theater, we are not on social networks, and we were there to serve the film. We had a wonderful time. Vincent Lindon couldn’t believe he won the acting prize at the Venice Film Festival. Between takes we played football together in the garden. »

Not roles, characters

The filming took place in excellent conditions. “We were able to rehearse and prepare the scenes for entire days. So that in these situations, there are no longer roles, but characters,” explains Benjamin Voisin. The two actors wanted them as close as possible to reality, with the concerns it raises regarding the future.
