Making of

A few minutes before our appointment time, at the Liège forensic institute, the phone rings. These are Kennes Editions. Philippe Boxho will receive us but he is exhausted, we are told, the rhythm of his conferences and signings surrounding the success of his books, ranked at the top of sales in and in the flat country, being truly delirious.

We are arriving. The man who receives us deceives us. On his desk, a large, filled and fluent diary. In his library, Vesalius’ treatise on anatomy, which he will leaf through at the end of the meeting. For almost two hours, Philippe Boxho, who offers us “a coffee to wake the dead” tells his story. His rapid delivery follows the thread of his constantly alert thoughts. As a child, he was, according to him, turbulent, hyperactive, fleeing the void. As an adult, has Boxho, the man in a hurry, changed so much? He assures us. We would like to believe it.
