A musical journey around the world and a good opportunity to dance. Saturday November 9 from 7 p.m. in the Le Faitout performance venue, in Bouquelon (Eure), two free concerts are offered, with the singer Kaloune and the group Manigale.

The event is organized by the Lézard Zébré association as part of “Échos du Monde”, a Norman itinerant cultural project which offers a series of world music concerts in rural areas, highlighting local or on tour in the region.

At Le Faitout, it will be Kaloune, who will introduce Maloya songs, and the Manigale group, who will warm up the atmosphere with a super folk ball.

A singer from Reunion Island

Kaloune, whose real name is Judith Profil, is a Reunion artist influenced from her childhood by the traditional songs of figures such as the artists Gramoun Lélé or Rwa Kaf. She has been writing since the age of six and singing since even younger. It is distinguished by a crystal clear voice. Passionate about transmitting her identity and culture through poetry and song, she performs in kabarés, ritual ceremonies dedicated to ancestors, where she rubs shoulders with internationally renowned Reunion artists.

A folk ball

A folk ball will close the evening. There we will discover the sparkling and lively music of the Manigale group which “leads guiboles and ears towards folk landscapes tinged with electric and woody colors”. Coming from the oral tradition, the three musicians experiment and create a singular and warm sound setting which draws on the energy of traditional music but not only that… “We are going to dance, we are going to warm up but we are also going to invent our color together, musicians and dancers, in the common momentum and the spicy sound of avant-deux and other market dances”, promise the members of the band. “Come on… It’s time to get warm!” »

The Malaka duo in a free concert: two sisters uniting their voices and their guitars

They are 22 and 24 years old and already make a living from music. Saturday November 9 at 9 p.m., the singing and guitarist sisters of the Malaka duo will be on stage at the contemporary music hall l’Écho in Pont-Audemer, for a free concert in a style people a soulwith their drummer Timothée Faure. But who are they?

Malaka is a duo of sisters, Laurina, 24, and Sacha, 22, who grew up in the . They released their first 5-track EP, “Maï”, in February. “We have a lot of inspirations: rap, blues, soul, rock, we like to mix all genres,” they say. They also unite their voices for beautiful harmonies.

Their songs are inspired by their lives, particularly by their quest for identity between Guadeloupewhere their father comes from, and metropolitan . They have also returned from a trip to the island aimed at “learning traditional music” before returning to the studio.

How did they get there? “We have always listened to music at home in English and French, we have been immersed in it since our childhood,” they first explain.

At high school, Laurina joined the music club, basically “to become friends with certain people”. She started singing, she liked it, and the guitar 6 years ago. However, “I quickly realized that I wasn’t really good at doing covers,” she admits. So a friend would send me guitar loops and I would create my own songs, with more identity. »

Laurina carries out a few musical projects, depending on meetings. Then, she quits her English studies and asked Sacha to join her. “Our other big sister was making music, so I said to myself, why not me,” adds the youngest, who has also been singing and strumming her guitar for four years. She also left her performing arts studies.

Thanks to the trust of their label, Green piste records, the young women began to make a living from their art by giving “lots of small concerts. We started touring and doing something solid, in a soul and folk style and recently, with our new afro-trained drummer, the style is becoming more afro soul,” explains Laurina.

You wouldn’t say it, but young women have learned to play guitar from tutorials on Youtube; they have never taken lessons, or even singing. “It requires a lot of work because we don’t have any musical training. Perhaps this will require a more advanced technique,” they envision.

In any case, they are eager to introduce their world to Pont-Audemer.

Free concert Saturday November 9 at 9 p.m. at l’Écho, place du Général-de-Gaulle. Entrance on the Saint-Ouen square.
