Actress known for her roles in Parks and Recreation, Sunny et The Office portrayed his father as “a giant” in an Instagram post commemorating the music composer’s life and legacy.
“My father was a nocturnal person his entire adult life. He did “jazz time” starting in high school and never looked back,” wrote his daughter, Rashida.
“When I was little, I would wake up in the middle of the night to look for him. No doubt he was somewhere in the house, composing (the old-fashioned way, with pen and sheet music).”

“He was a giant. An icon. A culture transformer. A genius. All correct descriptions of my father, but his music (and ALL his work) was a conduit for his love. He WAS love. He made everyone he met feel it. This is his legacy,” she continued.
“I had the chance to experience this love in close proximity. I will miss his hugs, his kisses, his unconditional devotion and his advice. Dad, it’s an honor to be your daughter. Your love lives forever,” concluded Rashida.
