On the menu, celebration of the Green March and strengthening the role of migrants in local development
On the occasion of the celebration of the 49th anniversary of the glorious Green March and in partnership with the province of Beni Mellal, the regional council of Béni Mellal-Khénifra and the Atlas company for tourism development, the 18th edition of the annual Migrants Festival was organized from November 1 to 5, 2024 in the commune of Ouled Youssef, province of Beni Mellal, under the theme “All together to strengthen the role of migrants in the success of local development”.
The festival aims to be a unique platform bringing together local and international actors, aiming to highlight the contribution of Moroccan migrants to local development and to strengthen their links with their country of origin. The activities offered are diverse: a local products area exhibiting traditional artisans and products, a children’s area with recreational and educational activities, as well as equestrian shows in the Tbourida area and musical evenings hosted by local artists. and national, thus creating an attractive festive atmosphere.
Mustapha Brim, president of the Ouled Youssef municipal council, underlined the importance of this national occasion, indicating that the organization of the festival for the 18th consecutive year reflects the municipality’s commitment to making migrants strategic partners in the local development. And added: “Through this festival, we seek to establish a bridge of communication between migrants and their homeland, and to strengthen social, cultural and economic ties.”
The president explained that the objective of the festival is to “involve migrants in local development projects, enable them to support the local economy and explore new investment opportunities.” In addition, he expressed his hope that the various activities contribute to strengthening ties between the Moroccan community abroad and their country of origin, stressing that the festival will evolve in future editions to respond to the interests of visitors and support the sustainable development.
The annual migrant festival in Ouled Youssef represents a starting point for raising awareness of local potential and creating a new dynamic of development. The event is expected to continue to celebrate Morocco’s heritage and history to deepen ties between the Moroccan diaspora and the local community, while working to make it a vital pillar of the region’s cultural economy in the years to come .
The festival saw the participation of more than 20 fantasia troupes from different regions of the province, offering impressive shows of the art of Tbourida. This event, organized regularly by the Ouled Youssef municipal council, aims to preserve the cultural heritage and traditions of the region, and to support the efforts of the community residing abroad which regularly contributes to socio-economic development. at local, regional and national levels. Note that the inaugural day was marked by the presence of members of the Ouled Youssef municipal council, under the presidency of Mustapha Brim, as well as the president of the Kasbat Tadla constituency, the caid of Ouled Youssef and several presidents of the neighboring communities, elected officials and parliamentarians from the province.
