How much progress has been made in just a few years to Eddy de Pretto ! Here he is now embarked on a Zéniths tour which will pass through Toulouse on November 13.
Before this Toulouse trip, he agreed to chat with the editorial staff of Actu Toulouse. He talks to us about the stage of course, the reissue of his third album Crash Coeur… and even his cinema projects! Interview.
“I make all my albums to find people on stage”
Actu : You are now embarked on one of the biggest tours of your career, including 20 Zeniths! How do we prepare for such a marathon?
Eddy de Pretto: “How do we prepare? So the scene is really my favorite part so I can’t wait to experience it. I can’t wait until it can be real, feeling people and sharing my songs with them. I make all my albums to meet people on stage, so I’m very happy with that! »
You who like to put on a show, what surprises do you have in store for your audience on stage?
Eddy de Pretto: “The album is called Crash Coeur, so I really liked this image of a heart that is thrown against a wall like during a car crash test, when we come to test the limits, the flaws, the ruptures of this heart On stage, at the start of the concert, we develop this idea, with a car crash on the side of a highway where there is a huge advertising billboard, and we will go through different stages: the 24 hours. in accelerated temporality of a car crash on the side of a road.
I like this allegory: of the crash of a life, of a rupture, of a pillar moment which changes the mood of emotion a little… It is a narrative starting point to be able to question: what is what makes us get back on our feet in life, what stone do we cling to to find emotional stability? All my songs talk a little about that, about mental health, about emotion, about sensitivity. And so for me it’s a bit of a pretext to introduce my songs.”
“I love designing full-fledged shows! »
Initially when you started, you were alone on stage with your smartphone. We imagine that there too, things have evolved!
Eddy de Pretto: “Yes! It’s important to change things! And to share emotion and for musical fluidity, it’s more pleasant to have musicians playing live. So obviously there will be musicians on stage Afterwards, it’s not a show where we come, where there are the musicians behind and then it’s over!
I like designing shows much more than just concerts so for me everything is staged. If the musicians are there, there is a reason. Everything is worked to tell the story that I told you at the start of this interview. This central advertising panel acts as the centerpiece of the scenography and serves as a pretext to tell, to put into images, to visualize my stories.
There is a reissue of the album in the works as well! What can you tell us about this?
Eddy de Pretto: “Yes, it will be released on November 1st, with four new tracks, including piano and vocals. There are always extra pieces lying around from when we composed the album. It was also important for me to speak again just before leaving on tour.”
A film project coming next year!
After this long tour, do you already have an idea of the rest of your projects?
Eddy de Pretto: “There are 20 Zéniths, which will inevitably take me a lot of time. And I’m also opening the door to cinema, so there’s work that will be done in that direction, next year! was one of my goals which will come true next year so I am also delighted to exchange my hat to go into the cinema industry.”
For what project exactly?
Eddy de Pretto: “I can’t talk about it yet!”
If we take a look back, how do you view your musical career, which started almost 10 years ago?
Eddy de Pretto: “I really have the worst view of myself. I’m a pretty demanding person. I can see of course that I’ve gone through a lot of stages, but I always prefer to see future possibilities rather than looking into the rearview mirror!”
