The film “Radia” represents Morocco at the Cairo International Film Festival

The Moroccan film “Radia”, directed by Khaoula Assebab Benomar, will represent Morocco in the “Critics Week” competition during the 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival, which will be held from November 13 to 22.
This 79-minute feature film retraces Radia’s journey in her quest for emancipation. She undertakes a liberating journey, seeking to free herself from her constraints, in an adventure without a precise destination. Driven by new energy and an inner rebirth, she personifies the central question posed by the film: what is the true meaning of success for the modern Moroccan woman?
Produced by Raouf Sebbahi in 2024, the film “Radia” will make its world premiere at the Cairo International Film Festival.
On this occasion, director Khaoula Assebab Benomar declared, in a press release, that this selection “would allow the Arab and international audience of the Cairo International Film Festival to discover this film during its world premiere screening.” She stressed that this world-renowned festival brings together figures from Arab and international cinema and constitutes a “privileged place to exchange experiences, expertise and ideas”.
The festival’s diverse program includes several sections, including “Critics Week”, one of the main competitions of the event.
It should be noted that “Radia” is the second feature film by director Khaoula Assebab Benomar, after her first film “Noor in the Darkness”, presented in 2017 and crowned with several awards at various international festivals.
In addition, director and screenwriter Khaoula Assebab Benomar chaired the jury of the official competition for fiction and documentary short films during the 24th edition of the Tangier National Film Festival, which took place last October.
As a reminder, the Cairo International Film Festival, currently chaired by Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmi, is one of the most prestigious festivals in the Arab world and Africa. It is the only festival in the Arab and African region to be classified in category “A” by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, based in .
