Tom Hanks treats himself to a youthful cure in “Here”, the new film by Robert Zemeckis

Tom Hanks with the face of a young premier. The actor however filmed in Herethe new film by Robert Zemeckis, last year, at the age of 68. A rejuvenation achieved thanks to the artificial intelligence (AI) revolution. In this experimental opus, the director of Forrest Gump features the duo from his cult film, Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, behind closed doors. We follow the evolution of characters in the same play, over several years.

AI has made it possible to recreate the faces of actors at all ages of life. This is the first time that this technology plays such a central role in cinema. “The process works using computers that can browse the internet, gather all the images and create digital makeup to give the characters the age we want them to be”explains Robert Zemeckis. An ambitious project in the image of its director, always at the forefront of visual effects, since Back to the future in 1985. But will his new technical feat convince the public?
